How She's in the Game

A native of Serbia, Jelena Jankovic works hard off the court to improve the lives of Serbian children. At local Serbian schools, Jankovic helps out wherever she can with school supplies and tennis lessons for the students. At the charitable event AMFAR in Cannes, France, Jankovic auctioned a tennis lesson which garnered over €45,000 to fight AIDS.

In 2007, Jankovic became a UNICEF ambassador to Serbia. She takes this role very seriously and sees it as another chance to go the extra mile in helping the lives of the underprivileged. In 2007, Jelena received the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour ACES Award for her outstanding off-court contributions.

Jelena Jankovic was born in 1985 in Belgrade, Serbia. Jankovic has enjoyed a successful career, gaining international renown for her tough defensive style of play and high level of fitness. In 2008 and 2009, Jankovic was ranked the #1 women’s tennis player in the world for seventeen straight weeks. She has reached the singles final match of the U.S. Open and the singles semi-finals of the French Open and Australian Open. In 2007, Jankovic won the Wimbledon mixed doubles title with British partner Jamie Murray.
