How He's in the Game

The Thomas Howard Foundation for Acadmic and Athletic Enhancement, launched in 2009, aims to raise awareness and funds to provide children and young adults with the necessary tools to achieve their goals in the classroom and on the playing field. The foundation has partnered with organizations such as After School All-Stars to benefit children ages 9 to 18. Moreover, Howard's philanthropic efforts include funding the Annual Walk-On Scholarship, the YFL Football Uniforms Scholarship Fund, and his work through the Raiders' community outreach initiatives. He's provided youth football teams with much needed equipment and helped provide incentives for young students to achieve at high levels through his "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader Challenge."

About Thomas Howard

Thomas Howard began his college career at UTEP as a walk-on, struggling to stay on top of his schoolwork, excel on the football, and simultaneously pay his way through school. After an excellent freshman year however, he earned a full scholarship and by his senior year, he was named pre-season defensive player of the year in the state of Texas. He was drafted in the second round of the 2006 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders.
