How He's in the Game

Ben Gordon grew up in one of the rougher areas of New York and although his professional basketball career has taken him as far as Chicago and Detroit, his heart has never gone far from home. In order to support the youth of Mount Vernon, New York, he has created the Ben Gordon New Life Foundation. The foundation sponsors educational and mentoring programs for young students to help them develop into well-rounded, fully-contributing members of their communities.

He recently hosted “Ben Gordon Unity Weekend” in Mount Vernon, in which he organized volunteers to build two new playgrounds. The weekend also featured free basketball clinics, a celebrity basketball game, and other forms of family entertainment.

About Ben Gordon

After leading the University of Connecticut Huskies to the National Championship in 2004, Ben Gordon was picked 3rd overall in the NBA Draft by the Chicago Bulls. He is the only player to ever receive the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award during his rookie season.
