On Saturday, October 29th All Stars Helping Kids brought to life its fourth successful Career Incubator, bigger and better than before. With over 250 high-achieving, low-income students from Eastside College Preparatory School and KIPP San Jose Collegiate, the Eastside College Prep campus was abuzz with activity. The day featured 18 interactive sessions from All Stars’ corporate partners, each 50 minutes in length, as well as a networking lunch, giving the students and presenters more time to interact.

Students attended three small-group sessions, chosen based on their professional interests and goals, giving them the chance to engage the corporate partners in an intimate setting. The largest Career Incubator yet saw a growth in corporate participation and a wide variety of sectors represented. This year’s partners were BAWSI, Chegg, Current TV, DreamWorks, Environmental Science Associates, Fenwick & West, First Republic Bank, Franklin Templeton, Goodby Silverstein & Partners, HP, Merrill Lynch, Redwood City Council, San Jose Mercury News, San Jose Repertory Theater, Snip. It, Stanford University Medical Center, and UCSF Medical Center. Justin Davis from the Mitchell Kapor Foundation was the keynote speaker, and he inspired students to foster and rely on networks, both personally and professionally.

The event was made possible through the generous financial support of Franklin Templeton Investments, the presenting sponsor, as well as the donation of the time and talent of each of the speakers. The networking lunch was sponsored by the Mi Pueblo Foods in East Palo Alto and Heimerhaus Deli in Redwood City. The day wrapped up with a raffle of educational prizes, including a laptop and printer donated by HP, and a year of textbooks with a year’s subscription to Cramster donated by Chegg.
